About MeganMaude.com

♥ How it Began ♥

The Megan Maude clothing line was created by its namesake, Miss Megan Maude McHugh, in 2007. Megan started out as an eBay seller offering customized clothing items. She eventually moved her focus to her site Supert3ch.com, which served as her web store for lolita clothing, dollfie clothing, and the infamous Gloomy Bear hoodies.

In 2006, after a severe back injury and subsequent surgery, Megan was forced to close Supert3ch.com. She took that opportunity to reformat her business and create a new line of clothing featuring outfits of her own unique vision. Thus, work began on the Megan Maude brand. Drawing inspiration from Japanese lolita fashion, historic western fashion, and vintage illustrations, she began fleshing out her new line. In December 2007, she debuted a small collection at the New York Anime Festival for the TokyoPop Gothic & Lolita Bible Fashion Show.

In 2008, her line will be featured in the new American Gothic & Lolita Bibles, published by TokyoPop.

♥ Frequently Asked Questions ♥

Megan Maude

Why do you not take custom commissions anymore?

I decided to stop doing custom commissions because they are far too stressful and time consuming. I always want to make sure my customer is happy, and so I fret endlessly over trim choices and little details and it becomes too much. Additionally, I want to be more free to create items that are new and interesting and suit my vision.

Is there a chance you will consider a custom order?

I will continue to take custom orders on an extremely limited basis. If you're considering asking for a custom order, please be sure to email me to discuss availability. I will consider taking custom orders for items that I already offer with minor changes. I will also consider custom orders for one-of-a-kind creations on a case-by-case basis. I will not make replicas of someone else's designs, but I will make you the frock of your dreams with my own vision.

I loved this one piece that you had, but now it's sold out! Can you make one for me?

All items are made in limited runs of 10 pieces per size, maximum. This is to keep things fresh and to make each item more exclusive. After all, what girl wants to walk into a party and discover five other girls wearing her gorgeous outfit? Because of this, I'm often unable to acquire the same fabrics and trims again, and that makes constructing the item again quite difficult.

Are your clothes made in a factory or a studio or what?

Each piece of clothing is made in a small studio setting. I would rather keep fabrication of items in-house so as to control quality and to keep things fresh and interesting. If I went to factory production I wouldn't have as much control over the end product and I would have to dedicate myself to larger quantities per item.

Do you plan on making clothing for men?

I do! I have plans to create a line of clothing for men called Tybalt. However, this will not be in the works until late 2009 or so.

Who did you get to make this lovely website for you?

My amazing and wonderful friend Emiko made the layout and graphics on this site for me. I then had my talented friend SQ make it all work and design the shopping interface. If you're interested in contacting SQ about his services, you can e-mail him at de@detrimental.net, and tell him I sent you. It probably won't get you anything, but at least he'll know where you came from. I highly recommend his skills in making web things work!
